Link Aggregation with Dell N2024

I am trying to create a LAG between a ESX 5.5 and a Dell N2024 switch.

VMware whats the following hasing method: Route based on IP Hash.

My Dell Switch has the following options:

  • Source MAC, VLAN, EtherType, and incoming port.
  • Destination MAC, VLAN, EtherType, and incoming port.
  • Source IP and Source TCP/UDP port numbers.
  • Destination IP and Destination TCP/UDP port numbers.
  • Source/Destination MAC, VLAN, EtherType, and incoming port.
  • Source/Destination IP and Source/Destination TCP/UDP port numbers.
  • Enhanced hashing mode

Now I do not know what method I have to chose on the switch.

Hi, first thing first, since you only have two host why do you need LAG?  This just adds unnecessary complication.  Keep your setup simple.

If you really want LAG, then you can choose any method, or ideally the HASH that gives you the most variation.

Hmm... you are saying that any method is working, but VMWare explicit wants Route based on IP Hash?
