License registration

Likely a dumb question, but I had a contractor install the upgrade from 4 to 5, he used the demo license and commented that I need to apply the correct license within 60 days.   I just checked my docs and it looks like I have 2 license keys 1 for vcenter server and 1 for vsphere 5 essentials  see below ?

So when I am in the Vshpere Client viewing the VMware ESXi License Features, I expect I would assign a new license, but which one below would it be or both?

License key(s) for VMware vCenter Server 5 Essentials for vSphere :
MH63M-xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx                     1 INSTANCE(s)

License key(s) for VMware vSphere 5 Essentials for 1 processor :
0163M-xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx                6 CPU(s)

Regards

Craig

If like that, that mean you are not installing vcenter server tu management both of your esxi host.

You should vsphere client to your vcenter with username administrator.

Otherwise if no vcenter, just update your host license in - configuration - license - click on properties, and add new license (vcpu) for esxi that u need to use

Both you need to be applied, you just login into vSphere Client (vCenter server), then go to Home --> License --> Manage vSphere License --> Adding both License --> Click on Add --> Select on Show All --> On ESX, select your ESX server and choose the new license key --> then Click on vCenter Tab --> Choose the new license key --> FINISH

License key(s) for VMware vCenter Server 5 Essentials for vSphere :

MH63M-xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx                     1 INSTANCE(s)

This is for your vCenter Server license key. (Management Server)

License key(s) for VMware vSphere 5 Essentials for 1 processor :
0163M-xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx                6 CPU(s)

This is for your ESX hosts license key. (Hypervisor)

Are you login using vsphere client by using vcenter ip or esx ip?.

In the top tab bar its have home. Then you click the home u will see the license icon.

I am using vShpere client I have connected by both IP and hostname to the VMware ESXi server and oddly all I get is home/inventory and home, administration.

There is a license option home, inventory, inventory, configuration, license features.   Could this have possibly been installed incorrectly

Thanks for all Help on this
