License Downgrade

Hello All,

I am trying to downgrade my VSphere 5 Enterprise license key to Essentials Plus in my VCenter. I have purchase all the necessary license keys but when I attempt to apply them, I receive the following mesage.

"The host is licensed with VMware vSphere 5 Essentials Plus. The license edition of vCenter Server does not support VMware vSphere5 Essentials Plus."

Do I need to downgrade the vCenter first ? If so, how can I do this ?

Cheers

Col

Hi  glfadmin,

Welcome to the communities.

You may deactivate existing license then reactive it with new key.

"concentrate the mind on the present moment."

Which version of vSphere/ESXi do you use? Do you use the vSphere Client for Windows or the Web Client?

I assume you already entered the license key for vCenter Server for Essentials as well as the CPU license key!?

Logon to the vCenter Server using the vSphere Client, then click "Home" followed by "Licensing". In the upper right corner you will find a link to "Manage vSphere Licenses ..." which opens a wizard to enter and assign licenses to vCenter Server as well as the hosts.
