Just doing a poll: for sites with more than a few hosts (ie 20-30-100-500) how do you handle patching/updating?
VUM is obviously one solid choice, though I suspect at scale there may be challenges? If so - what are they?
If you have adopted an alternative process - could you please outline what you are doing? Is this a totally home-brewed system that requires a local scripting expert to setup manage and monitor?
I know that HP environments have a requirement for staying on top of "asymmetric" updates (ie those not included by vmware directly. How does the update process stay in sync with that? Are there other server vendors that have similar requirements?
