  • 1.  Keyboard features in the VM bios - auto-repeat rate & delay

    Posted Apr 01, 2013 03:41 PM
    Hello All,
I want to understand the following settings available in the BIOS of a vmware virtual machine. What is the effect of these settings and when should I change them?
    - keyboard auto-repeat rate
    - keyboard auto-repeat delay
And most importantly, are these settings related to VMX advanced setting - keyboard.typematicMinDelay. What is the difference?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,

Looks like the delay setting is more related to that vmx setting - see http://kb.vmware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?language=en_US&cmd=displayKC&externalId=196

in it at the start mentions - "the time delay over the network may be long enough to cause the virtual machine to start auto-repeat."

The -rate setting appears to relate to typeomatic speed - http://communities.vmware.com/thread/337724 (link relates to workstation but should

    be esxi applicable)
