It's eating my physical memory!

Why would a Virtual Machine show that it is using all of the Memory allocated to it (2GB) when you look at the task manager within the VM Console and it is showing only 300MB in use. Nothing is running on it. It's setup as a file server with Windows Server 2003 Standard R2. Any advice?

Have you installed the latest vmware tool and also patched your system to the latest version? there was a problem with Transparent Page sharing and ESX 4 that was causing memory alarms all the time for VM's.

There is a huge thread about TPS on here somewhere.

There were some new updates that I had not installed yet. Moved the VM to the updated host and memory usage dropped like a rock. Thanks for the help!
