Issues in ESXi host VC client

Hi,

We are facing an issue when logging in directly to the ESXi host from the Vsphere client where the information displayed on the Events page and also while trying to add new roles are displayed in the following format

  • Tasks appear with the syntax:

    XXX some_text.label not found XXX
  • Events appear with the syntax:

    XXX some_text.fullFormat not found XXX

Looked like a language pack issue, but issue persists even after following the resolution in the KB article (1017532)

Would be helpful if any assistance can be provided on the same.

Note : There is no display issues in Vsphere client, logging into Vcenter server.

Thanks.

Looks like the word wrapping hit the commandline to use in the KB, there is a SPACE missing in front of the -

Try it as described here: https://www.null-byte.org/miscellaneous/vcenter-server-tasks-and-events-are-named-using-the-syntax-x...

"C:\Program Files\VMware\Infrastructure\Virtual Infrastructure Client\Launcher\VpxClient.exe" -locale en_US

or if it's x86 client: "C:\Program Files (x86)\VMware\Infrastructure\Virtual Infrastructure Client\Launcher\VpxClient.exe" -locale en_US

Either of them run as administrator.

Thanks for your reply, we tried the solution mentioned but still facing the problem. Could this be related to being no "en" folder in the path "C:\Program Files\VMware\Infrastructure\Virtual Infrastructure Client\Launcher\VpxClient.exe" . We have folders for other languages with DLL files but no folder exists for en. Could this be an issue?

Kindly advise.

Thanks.

I'm on a German Windows and there is no en folder(s) either. Guess that en is built into the client laucher. Same on an English (UK) Windows installation.

Probably uninstallaing and (after a reboot) re-installing the client helps in any way?
