I created a template and I have existing customization. When I try to deploy VM from template and once the VM gets powered on, it takes the Computer Name of old machine(template) but not the new name which I gave during Guest customization.
Could not query rescheduled value in registry (The system cannot find the file specified.

The version of ESXi in which template created is 5.1 U1
We are experiencing the same issue when deploying a server 2012 template. The contents of the guestcust log are the same as above. We are running esxi 5.1 build 1065491 and vCenter 5.1 build 1123961.
It's a Windows server 2012 template, correct?
Yes, the template is Windows Server 2012 Standard.
Issue confirmed on vSphere 5.5
Is this an issue in vSphere/vCenter 5.0u1?
Do you know if there will be a fix released for 5.0x?
We're not planning on moving off of 5.0x anytime soon.
Thanks
We ended up getting this to work by not running sysprep on the template VM beforehand. By just shutting down the VM, converting the VM to template, and deploying a new VM from the template, the guest customization worked.
Its working for me now.
But it fails for the VM with the NIC vmxnet but works for e1000 virtual adapter. Any reason for that?
Thanks.
