I would like to be able to offer a development environment using vSphere. We could isolated an environment either on one server with a vSwitch and no uplinks, or we could connect those uplinks to a dedicated development switch to extend across several hosts to allow for bigger development environments.
My main concern is creating the VM environment. Manually coping the required VM's (DC, DHCP, and the finance system for example) to the new environment is one way (cloning, vmotioning, and changing the associated network), but can that be effectively scripted by vCAC? Ideally, I would like to combine the self-service elements of vCAC with a straight-forward and easy way of moving production systems to an isolated environment..
