Is there any way to validate the Virtual Server has been used?

I have a question regarding VMware ESX environment:

Once a virtual server has been created, is there any way to validate that it has been used?

Thanks a lot for your help in advance!

I am not exactly clear on what you want to know. By used, do you mean that it has been powered on and people have been installing things on the VM?

Thanks! What I mean by used is that the virtual server has been powered on and the user is doing something with the virtual server in what ever ways it may be, could be installing something or run a workload etc.

Well, you could run a PowerCLI script to see the VM state, as in if it is Powered On or Off. As far as seeing inside the guest...I don't believe there is anything other than checking either through log monitoring of the guest. You could base it on looking at resources as well being utilized by the guest. It wouldn't be a very good approach but I guess it could be done.
