Is there any way to remove the iSCSI software adoptor ?

Hi,

We have enabled the iSCSI software adaptor, add "Vitrtual Switch" and "Port group" for testing iSCSI.

Now, we have already removed the Virtual Switch and would like to know whether it is possible for us to remove the iSCSI software adaptor ?

OR alternatively, we can leave the software adaptor there without removing it ?

Thanks

You can remove the software iscsi adapter by disabling it first. Under SWiscsi adapter>Properties>Configure>Disable Enabled.

After this, the server will ask for a reboot for the change made.

After this reboot, the swiSCSI adapter would have been automatically removed.

Just find that the SW iSCSI is still enabled and the checkbox is greyed out.  In this way, I am not able to disable it.  Your advice is sought.

Thanks

Then its unlikely that sw adapter is unable to locate the vmkernel nic which had been used while creating it and binded. This could be the effect of the virtual switches being removed earlier.

To workaround, you might wanna add the vmkernel nic back to a vswitch, assign this vmkX to the sw iscsi adapter and disable the adapter and then remove the nic.

HTH,
