Hello,
I am using TrueNAS Core as a central datastore for my VMs which is connected via FibreChannel to an ESXi Free on a second machine as a home lab configuration. Since the Storage API is read-only in ESXi free, the VMware Snapshot functionality in TrueNAS does not work, so taking consistent ZFS snapshots is not available.
So I am wondering if only scheduled VM snapshots could be taken by ghettoVCB, without backing up any data. It would be great when it could pause a while instead of backing up to allow TrueNAS to take a scheduled snaphot of its ZVOL and then delete the VM snapshot afterwards.
Maybe it is possible to configure the backup volume in ghettoVCB to /dev/null, but then all the data is transferred over FC to the host for nothing.
Do you heave any ideas?
Greetings,
Pierre
