Is it OK to change vCPU and Memory resource of Guest OS to advance the some process temporarily ?

We use ESXi 4.1 and win2008R2 guest OS which has Oracle database.

We are importing data to Oracle DB.

To advance the importing speed,Is it OK to change vCPU and Memory resource of Guest OS  temporarily ?

Thank you.

If I take snapshot before adding CPU, Memory resource of Guest OS ,

is it possible to apply that snapshot to bring back to original CPU, meory resource ??

I am afraid of that snapshot is not usable when something go wrong after adding CPU,memory resource.

VM snapshot is complete preserved state of VM, which includes virtual hardware settings state, memory state(for powered on vm if you have opted for it) and disk state.

So if you have VM with 1 vCPU, you have taken a snapshot and added more vCPUs, at a later time, if you wish to revert to previous state, your VM hardware settings are also going to be restored.
