Hello,

I'm running two centos linux 5.4 guests on vsphere 4 U1 and vmware tools installed on both of them.

Those ping times going more irregular especially under load.

Do you have any idea why this is happening?

Thank you.

Welcome to the forums!

Unstable ping times can have a lot of reasons. Describe your network setup and we might can tell you at least if everything is O.K.

Beside the pings, are you facing problems with the network performance?

Do you have installed the VMWare Tools insode every guest?

Two guests are in the same IP network. They are on the same vlan. And they are on the same virtual machine.

I installed vmware tools (VMwareTools-4.0.0-208167) on both of guests. Also network adapters configured as vmxnet3 on vsphere. It was vmxnet before but we changed to vmxnet3.

Yes we are experiencing network performance problems. I checked ping times after I see network problems. Connection times of the vms to each other unstable like ping times.

Have you checked the switch port statistics? Are there collisions or errors?

What kind of connection do you use?

Is it getting better with only one guest running?

How is your vSwitch setup?

No collision or errors. Everything seems ok on physical side.

We are making mysql conections from web server (apache+php). I didn't try with one guest, because db data is big (150 GB) and takes time to move it.

I cannot access vsphere so I don't know the setup. But there are other guests on vsphere server and using the same switch. They are not experiencing such problems.

I'm managing guests with remote access (ssh), not the vsphere. When I need to change something on vm settings I'm mailing and admins are changing.

If other clients do not face such problems, you may check the guests OS setup regarding application support (in case of Windows) and network setup.

I checked so many times but nothing found.

I suspect there may be a problem with Vmware tools or maybe a trick to fix the problem but it seems there is nothing on vsphere side. Smiley Sad

I'm still looking to guests if I can find any problem.

Thank you anyway.
