Intel Pro/1000 GT and ESXi 4?

Does the Intel Pro/1000 GT work with ESXi 4?

If not, can anyone recommend a cheap NIC that will work?

You will need additional drivers:

It is not working for me either, and a challenge to install those drivers without network access! Anybody manage to do this?

Yes these NIC worked for me out of the box but I am now seeing NIC dropouts with these NICs.

In my experience this only seems to happen when the NICs are pushed hard while being used to connect to NFS storage.

Am going to try the CT adpaptor to see if I have the same issues.

BTW, I have tried using the additional drivers above but I still see the same problem.

I have now received the CT card and been running with it for over 7 hours now and its SOLID!   Smiley Happy

Man am I a happy chappy, I have been struggling with these NIC drop outs for ages, it was only happening on the NIC ports used for NFS storage (all of the VMs data). I had to do a bit of testing as I am also a bit fresh on vlans, trunks etc...

It also only started happening when I pushed the ESXi server to close to 8GB of ram, currently I have the host pushed to 93% of the 16GB of RAM and the NIC is still solid Smiley Happy

Not sure if it was the combo of mainboard (Gigabyte GA-870A-USB3 Rev 3.0) and the GTs (also happens on the MT dual port cards for me), or maybe down to the busses, PCI-e x1 good, PCI bad?

Either way I am solid now, may try using the GT/MT cards for non NFS connections, they didnt seem to drop out with just LAN, DMZ and external connections, I also got my vlans working now also Smiley Happy

Some screenshots @ http://communities.vmware.com/message/1770718#1770718 if anyone is interested Smiley Happy
