Insufficient Resources. VM wont power on

Hi,

Im running vSphere 6.7.

At random times our machines dont power back on after nightly reboots (scheduled)

The only message I see is Insufficient Resources. Last time it happen was this morning at 3:15am (10/2/19).

However, I dont see what it maybe causing the issue. I have attached the log of the VM.

Any ideas?

Hi,

Is there a memory reservation on the virtual machine? Are you using Standalone ESXi or is there a vSphere HA cluster?

If you have a vSphere HA cluster, the virtual machine may not be powered on due to the settings on the admission control policy.

Thanks.

Hi,

No memory reservation and we are using vSphere HA cluster.

Admission Control is turned off.

The host has plenty of compute and storage available.

Hi,

This is a very generic error. Check if you have advanced settings/parameters configured in cluster DRS advanced options. Let me know if you have any configured.

Remove "limitvmsperesxihost" and try to power on VMs. It should work after removal of this advanced value.

Can you temporarily turn off DRS/HA and try again? At least you can tell if the problem is DRS/HA.
