Installing vcenter 5 license to vcenter 4!

Hello,

We have a production system which's version is vcenter 4. We just bought new license of vcenter 5. I do not want to upgrade the system right now. I tried to install version 5 licenses to version 4 system but it gave me licence error: 5. Do I have to upgrade the system in order to install the license?

I want to know that If I downgrade my license to 4, will I able to upgrade it after a year later? Is there a limit to upgrade it again?
