Hello all,
I'm new to virtualization. I was just given a project to install vmware vsphere on a newly bought system.
I already have my iso image and vma client. I want to ask if there's a prior knowledg of something else i need to do before the installation cos like i said, it almost looks like a crash work that needs to be delivered soonest inorder to keep my job.
thank you everybody for your assistance.
The best thing to do is check the HCL to ensure all components are compatible
Also, the install guide
...and best practices
Hi,
I second to Troy's suggestions and also suggest you go through the youtube videos on how to install and manage VMware ESXi 5.0, there are some pretty nice youtube videos with all the information. Once you go through the videos am sure you will be able to install as well as calm your nerves.
check out the following video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZBl1Tf2A4lA
Hope the information is useful

In addition to the above source, suggest to go thorugh the vSphere 5.0 videos which was released by VMware fo free, The videos series start with installation and also explaining some of the features..
Installing ESXi is beyond trivial.
Throw the CD in the drive, boot to it, click "OK" a few times and you are done.
It walks you through configuring the basics, like network, root pw, ect..
