Installing ESXi on a 6 GB Partition

If I create two virtual disks, one at 6 GB's and the rest formatted as VMFS. Then install ESXi on the 6 GB, what happens over time with patching?  Won't this eventually consume the 6 GB's?

What's the best practice when using local storage?  I would like to create two vd's in Raid and use one for the installation and the other for storage.

Thanks

No,

ESXi only keeps your current version and previous versions of the Firmware.

As time goes by and you drop one of the bigger releases, it lifts your configuration, replaces the firmware and drops your configuration on the new firmware. - so the size does not continue getting bigger and bigger

One day I will virtualise myself . . .
