Hi

yes network card is e1000

I have created an isolated network switch for this machine. I have other 2 windows boxes communicating on the same switch . It does not have any physical adapter attached to it. Does it make sense to you.

Thanks for your reply

So, you are trying to ping ESXi from VM on the same isolated vSwitch?

What are network settings for Windows in this VM and ESXi? IP, netmask?

Hi

I created a new switch only for internal communication. so no physical network cards connected to it. Total 3 machines connected to the vswitch.

1) Windows box : IP address : 192.168.100.1 ....255.255.255.0 ....

2) Windows box : IP address : 192.168.100.2 ....255.255.255.0 ....

3) ESX box : IP address : 192.168.100.5 ....255.255.255.0 ....

I can ping the 2 windows boxes from each other but cant ping the ESX box.from any of those.................

These all machines are on a ESX 3.5 Host and all are virtual machines

Thanks

Do you have VLAN Tagging setup on the switch, if so have you configured it in the vSwitch on the vSwitch
