I have used VmWare GO and vSphere Client. I have 2 Vms, and they only PXE boot. The default is 0ms delay. I have gone into Bios, set order CD/Disk/Network, but all the VM does is network boot. I have tried to attched the server CD permanently as well as using the button in Go/vSphere - does not access the Centos 5.5 64 bit DVD.
I used VmWare workstation several years ago and it was very easy to use. I have spent a day with ESXi and can't figure anything out.
What am I missing here?
Ok. seems the first options for CD are to connect to your PC CD, and not the server. I have it connected now and loading.
However, I don't see any network configuration tools to say if you bridge the network, or create a subnetwork like I used to see in vmware workstation.
Also, I want to use DirectPath to conenct a custom PCIe card to my VM. Where do I enable that option?
I would suggest that you go through the free onsite training. http://communities.vmware.com/community/vmtn/vsphere/quickstart
Workstation and ESX(i) are different in the way they handle networking. http://www.vmware.com/technical-resources/virtual-networking/
For directpath you would need hardware with vt-d support and a VMdirectpath supported device.
