hi, I get the following error when trying to upgrade standalone ESXi 7.0.2-17630552 to 19482537 build in my test lab.
[InstallationError]
This upgrade transaction would skip ESXi Base Image VIB(s) VMW_bootbank_ionic-en_16.0.0-16vmw.703.0.20.19193900, VMW_bootbank_nvmetcp_1.0.0.1-1vmw.703.0.35.19482537, VMware_bootbank_bmcal_7.0.3-0.35.19482537, VMware_bootbank_esxio-combiner_7.0.3-0.35.19482537, VMware_bootbank_trx_7.0.3-0.35.19482537, which could cause failures post upgrade. Please use an alternative upgrade method that would install the above VIB(s). For example, use an image profile instead of VIBs to perform the upgrade.".
I made a bootable USB and still it won't upgrade and asking me to upgrade it via vCenter which these ESXi are not connected to. They were previously connected in a testing lab but vCenter got an issue so I deleted it and something could have happened to this ESXi. But not sure if that can impact the upgrade process even via USB? If it is too complicated then I can format and build another test but love to know if there is a fix.
Thanks,
K
I just encounter the same error. I have 2x hosts that upgraded fine and 2x that are complaining, they all started on a 6.7 HP image and upgraded through to 7.0.2 #18538813 where they are currently stuck (except for two)
Just resolved the issue by running the below command
esxcli software profile update -p ESXi-7.0U3d-19482537-standard -d https://hostupdate.vmware.com/software/VUM/PRODUCTION/main/vmw-depot-index.xml
Running that command was giving a hardware error that could not upgrade. I ended up installing a fresh ESXi.
Thanks,
k
