Installation of Driver file of RPM on the ESXi 4.0

Hi,

How to install any rpm drivers in the ESXi 4.0 server.

We are trying to install rpm in one of the ESXi, but we couldn't install the driver. It's not suppoting the rpm installation command.

Please let me know how to do the rpm installation command.

Regards,

Santh

ESX is not Linux and you cannot use Linux driver.

You have to look for specific driver for ESXi (in you case), and usually there is a related document on how to install them.

ESXi does not supported rpm, it was created on base custom BusyBox build and rpm command is not available.

Drivers in ESXi can be installed only through oem.tgz, take a look same details at Customizing your ESXi install with oem.tgz.

Hi,

you won't be able to install rpm packages in a ESXI host.

ESXi doesn't have a linux based service console like ESX:
