Increase SWAP space

Hi All,

Is there a way to increase the size of the SWAP space without rebuilding the entire ESX server? I am using ESX4 with Update1

it probably won't be easy if it is possible. can you post the output of 'fdisk -l' and 'df -h'?

see this as well

However in my opinion if you can get the guests evacuated off the ESX and not take any downtime to them, it may just be easier to rebuild the Host.

Simplest answer: No.

You need to set the swap partition to the largest you expect to need, or the maximum allowed, during your installation of ESX. The largest you can make the swap partition is 1600MB (twice the max memory allocation to the service console).

Cause the service console is based on Linux, you can add another swap partition or simple add a swap file (do not use a VMFS datastore for it):

http://www.redhat.com/docs/manuals/linux/RHL-8.0-Manual/custom-guide/s1-swap-adding.html

IMHO e host rebuild is a better choice.
