Import vmdk file from VMWare Player to vSphere possible ?

Hi Community

Is it possible to import vmdk file from VMWare Player to vSphere. I tried already to by import on datastore and create a new VM and with the VM Converter.

- create a new VM with vmdk file in vSphere throws a compatibility error.

- VM converter runs in first try to 22%, in second to 64%.

Is there another possibility to get vmdk file running in vSphere ?

The sparse virtual disk format is not supported by ESXi. What you can do - other than using the converter - is to convert the virtual disk to an ESXi supported format using vmware-vdiskmanager (see e.g. http://kb.vmware.com/kb/1023856 -> Attachments), upload the 2 resulting vmdk files to the ESXi host's datastore and create a new VM using this existing virtual disk.

Hi Andre

Thanks for your answer. I will try next week, because I have no time this week.
