Import vdisks in ESX4

Hello,

at first I'm an newbi here. Thanks!

I have one problem. I have an esx 4.0, The maschine crashed with an hardwarefail.

But no problem was thinking, I habe an backup fron the virtual disks.

New maschine, with new ESX, uoload the vdisks to the datastore and Strart!

But now the problem. When I want wo make an new VM and i select exsiting disk. I'm not able to select the diskfile. But on the filesystem the file ist exsiting.

Any clue for me??

Best Regards

Uwe

Which files did you upload?

Virtual machine disks in ESX consist of two files, the descriptor file <VMname>.vmdk and the data file <VMname>-flat.vmdk.

Can you attach a list of the files you have, and a screenshot of the datastore browser showing the files.

you can try to use the Converter to create the machine from the disk files.

i faced this problem before. But think there might also be other ways.
