ISCSI luns mapping to VM confussing

hello friends,

Here today i land up in confussion  while mapping luns from a ISCSI based storage for my vsphere 4i enviro.

The problem is my storage has  target ip are 192.168.1.1/192.168.1.2

i went to storage adapters in vsphere for Iscsi and in dynamic discovery configured target ip and enabled it.

Now do i need to create an iscsi Vmkernal port .If yes then it should from which ip range and actually why this port is required. If my luns are visible in my scan then what this port will do.

Regards

Hello,

you need create portgroup vmkernel with IP of same range of target to traffic data .

set mtu 9000 is a best practice, use dedicated adapter too is best practice

check out http://www.vmware.com/pdf/vsphere4/r41/vsp_41_iscsi_san_cfg.pdf
