ID Changes After VM Migration

Hello all,

I have a vm with win server 2012 and an Application on it. This application create a fingerprint for license after scan CPU ID, BIOS ID, HDD ID, MOTHERBOARD ID, VIDEO CARD ID, MAC ADDRESS. After reboot of Vm license expire because of referent ID in scan .( As app developer say ) . I can remember only a migration of Data in an other Storage  (new one) .

Does it make seance ?

Vcenter 6.5

VMware ESXi, 6.0.0, 6765062

Yes, it makes sense. You'd have to find out exactly what properties that app keys off of to generate its thumbprint. If one of them is CPU and you vMotion it to a different host with a different CPU, then that would trigger a new activation code. What it sounds like you should do is contact the app manufacturer and ask for a virtualization-appropriate license since what you have isn't going to work well in a virtualized environment. Some software makers have a trade-in plan where you can get a license which is better suited to being virtualized.
