IBM Server x3650M4 and x3650M2 - Install with IBM or VMware ISO??

Hello out there,

what i really don't get is : How am i supposed to know if i should install my IBM servers with VMWare ISOs from VMWare Homepage or with ISOs from IBM site? I can't find any document stating what is right or wrong.

Does anybody know?

Hi,

I would recommend to use ISO from IBM site since it will have custom drivers for your nic and other hardware, which is usually not included in VMware ISO.

Ok, but as far as i can see vSphere 5.1-Update1 as a ISO Image is only "supported" by VMWare with those servers and not supported by IBM. So in this case i should take the VMWare ISOs right?

I have been taking the latest offline bundle, and the latest drivers for my HBA and NIC, and using Image Builder PowerCLI to create a custom ISO.  I've deployed many IBM blades this way.

I'm not certain what IBM might be including in their ISO other than drivers; I've not been using theirs because they seem to be behind in updating their ISO.
