Hi,

I don't know exactly if it support your Windows Storage Server 2008 R2 while I don't have test it, but I can tell you if it support the Windows Server it should support it but I will suggest you to try the TrueNAS which work without issues on the ESXi. I have test it and it offer much more as the Windows Storage Server 2008 R2 which is too old and the TrueNAS is free.

Hi,

The VMware HCL shows that Windows 2008 is supported in vSphere 8 and 8u1.

So no reason not to use it as Storage.

Win2008 server is supported but not recommended as it is no longer supported fully by Microsoft (patching and updates). I would also suggest that you would be better off using TrueNAS (https://www.truenas.com/) as it is far more secure and kept updated.

Thank you for your response. Since it will be used for corporate purposes this time, we must avoid using the unsupported environment. Your answer was valuable. Thank you very much.

Hi,

I understand you, but I know many companies (corporates) that use the TrueNAS and it's supported and also it has a big community to help. Don't be afraid to suggest it to management and try it.

I thing you will get more advantages as you thing from this solution and you will save the money your company. :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:
