Hyper-Threading

Given an ESXi 4.1 server with a 4 core processor and the option to enable Hyper-Threading, is it advisable to enable Hyper-Threading?

I got different suggestions.

• Some specialists say it is a way to increase the number of available vCPU
  
• Other specialists say that it can decrease the overall througput of the server as they are not true CPUs.
  

Can anybody please help understand when and where it us useful tio enable HT?
