As per the VMware standard recommendation if you are assigning the LUNS for the VMFS file system..then it should be 512GB - 512KB.
In the current scenario if you are looking it out for 2TB disk for the VM, then you should go for the RDM. Since it would be dedicated for the VM and due to the less I/O request the performace would be better and it would be easy to manage.

you have the option of using a 2048mb VMDK if you set it to an 8mb block size. have a read on block sizes

Yeah thanks, I already know about those block size. Actually I know very well my VMware. It's just I was wondering about a best practice and to have some suggestion and confirmed some point.
