How to virtualize an existing Windows Server?

I have an existing physical server that's running Windows Server 2008. This machine is getting old and we like to toss it away but before we do, instead of reinstalling the Windows server OS and configure everything from scratch, I like to know if there is an easy way to virtualize this existing OS and bring it into ESXi 5 in a newer physical server host? If so, what do I need and what are the steps? Help is much appreciated.
