Hi, all
I am evaluating vSphere Essential with esx 4 installed for the first time.
I know that vSphere Host Update Utility 4.0 cannot update esx.
My question is:
How can I update or upgrade Esx 4?
Thanks
You mean upgrade from esx 3 to esx 4?

My problem it doesn't the UPGRADE but rather the UPDATE, as for example patching.
Tnx
The VMware vSphere Updade Manager is included in all vSphere editions. Thats what you need for Updates.

If you have Essential package just use Update manager.

That is correct since vSphere Host Update Utility is for Upgrades (esx3 to esx4) and Update Manager is for Updates (Patches etc.)

Even when using the Host Update Utility to upgrade from ESX 3.5 to ESX 4.0 it says "Upgrade is not supported on this host", but it works anyway. Every upgrade I have done it says this, but goes through fine. Haven't worked out why.
I have downloaded the Essential package but I'm afraid that I'm not find update manager.
Where can I find update manager?
thanks in advance for your patience
Update manager is an additional package to vCenter and it is included to distrib.
