How to specify in a VM template keys/values I want to add in the generated vmx file

If I have a VM template, is there any way I can specify in the vmtx, for example, some keys/values that I want to add in the .vmx created for the VM ?

The entries are related to config->extraConfig so they are not critical vmx entries like disk or processor info.

Thanks.

I have never heard of a way to do that.
