How to shrink VM Disk

Hi,

I want to shrink VM's virtual disk.
But I could not shrink it..


ESXi: 5.0
VM version: 8
OS: Windows Server 2008 Standard
Virtual Disk: Thick Provision Lazy Zeroed 2042GB

Does anyone have any idea?

You will have to use vcenter standalone converter

Hi

There are three methods

-Use v2v

-Use svMotion

-perform a shrink operation from the OS side using shrink feature in windows 2008

I would suggest to go with v2v.

But you can give a try for the 3rd option as well as it is already tested in win2k8.But before trying it out,make sure that you have a backup of the vmdk.
