How to "move" ESXi to different media?

Hello everyone,

First of all, I am pretty new to the ESXi so thank you for being patient

According to this article: https://kb.vmware.com/s/article/85685

The support for SD/USB card is going to the end for next major updates.

We have the ESXi installed on dual SD cards but plan to move to a internal SSD.

Is there a way to "migrate" the entire ESXi Operating system from SD card to another Hard drive while keeping the configuration intact?

And for the VMs, In my test lab, we have 3 VM installed on a spearated datastorage, how could I "restore" them in the new installation?

Thank you again for any advice

jamesnb1,

You will need to install the same build of ESXi on new media and restore the config from the old disk. VMFS volumes will be preserved during a reinstall.

I read the entire article. I'm still unclear as to if using an USB stick as a boot device with scratch moved to an internal drive's subdirectory under root is also deprecated?
