How to get usb back on esxi 7.0u3?

Hi!

So I have an external usb harddrive that wasn't working very well in 7.0u3. So I've started to mess around with the vmkusb stuff, and found an article that told me to unload the module. The article however was for 6.5 I think, that had an alternative usb driver.

So long story short, after unloading the module and rebooting the flashdrive that esxi boots from is no longer visible, so I get a ramdisk and a temp bootbank, and no matter what I do, I obviously can't write the flashdrive, so I can't re-enable vmkusb.

The question is if there is a way to get the usb back either on the host, or by pulling the flashdrive and editing it on another computer?

I can load the vmkusb driver manually on the host on the ramdisk, but somehow it doesn't pick up the usb devices, lsusb still returns with an empty result.

Is there a boot option to get vmkusb to load again?

Or is the only solution to reinstall the host?

Cheers

You mean if the arbitrator service is running? If so, then it is.

If you mean a vmkusb module option, then I don't know how to do that.

What command did you use to reload the vmkusb driver?
