Hi

We are using VCSA 6.7 with five esxi 6.7 hosts & multiple vms are are running inside the esxi hosts.

I have no Sound card installed on Esxi hosts but we need Sound from VMs. Can we do that? Please let me know if possible. It will highly appreciable for the earliest response.

Thank in advance

Hi @amit_vmware13,

you can do it this way:

1)  You need to add a sound card to VM using host client
2)  Then enable sound for Remote Desktop Protocol in a Windows virtual machine

After that you can connect through RDP and sound hear sound

This is assuming that it is a Windows Guest VM...

vFouad, thank you for pointing it out . I have rechecked and tested options:

Option 1. For Windows VM you don't need to add sound card inside a VM with you connect with RDP. When you use RDP a remote sound device will be added for remote sound playback.

Option 2. For any types of VMs you can add soundcard using Host Client (step 1) also use VMware Remote Console  (Windows, macOS, Linux) to connect to a VM 2.
