How to find disk to extend if you have 20 same size disks?

Hi everyone,

I have a windows 2008 r2 VM, and it has 20 same size disks. All disks are vmdk disk on a single datastore.

How would you recognize which disk to extend/delete if required?

Please see captured images attached, disk properties from disk manager does not give any clue.

if disks are not formated in order how would you find it ?

Target id or lun id doesnt tell you anything

VM -> Edit Setting > Click Hard Disk > Virtual Device Node SCSI (0:1) should match with

My computer -> Select Drive Property -> Hardware > Bus 0, target ID 1

HI -- the target id that you see is the SCSI ID --  in the virtual disk from VC you will see a SCSI ID - that needs to me matched with the target id at the guest OS

I saw issues like yours a couple of times and the final solution for me was to use slightly different sizes for the virtual disk, which makes it possible to identify the disks by their size.

sg1234 and athalon crazy are right

the scsi id in windows and the vmdk are the same
