How to enable physical serial ports on host

Hi.

On my host machine there is a physical serial port card with 4 additional com ports installed. But in the vSphere client I can only assign

/dev/char/serial/uart0 to the virtual machines.

What is wrong with my host configuration, that the additional ports are not active?

With the remote console I can see that there is only this one uart device but no further. Is any additional module or configuration

necessary?

Thanks in advance

Markus

First of all, check if the PCI card appears on the lspci output (log into the esxi host using ssh). You can also check if the card is working by booting the hardware with a linux livecd and see if the serial ports show up.

Don't forget to check also on the BIOS if you don't need to enable anything.
