How to enable LBR virtualization for Intel CPUs on ESXi 6.5 ?

Hi,

A software i am writing needs to access the LBRs from a guest OS running over vSphere ESXi 6.5 on an Intel CPU (e.g. Skylake).

Is there any setting to virtualize the LBRs ?

If not can that be done by developing a virtual appliance to do so ?

Or is an experimental update or virtual appliance available from the VMWare labs to do so?

I tried already what you suggested, but it did not help. I am attaching screenshot of the CPU virtual hardware settings. Virtualization is enabled in the BIOS.

I can read the hardware performance counters in the guest OS but not the LBRs
