How to diagnose ESXi host

I've done a System Log export of an ESXi host which seemed to lose connectivity (some VM's would ping, some wouldn't). What I am really after is which logs in my generated log bundle would give me the best information to diagnose such connectivity issues?

whats is the current state of the host ? disoncceted or not connected or not responding

check the vmkerel.log and vobd.log files

check the status of vpxa and hostd ,

check the DNS and VLAN details on the Virtual machine , is it trucked form switch side ?

are you able to ping the gateway of the virtual machines which is not pining ?

use the investigation approach and you will narrow down the problem and find a fix

You can directly see the logs via loggin in to the esxi host and fetch the /var/log/hostd.log:  files which contains the virtual machine and host Task and Events.

and if any other issue ocurring you can go for the specific logfiles for specific issue. http://kb.vmware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?language=en_US&cmd=displayKC&externalId=203207...
