How to configure tape library MSL2042 media changer in Esx 4.1

We just purchased a tape library MSL2024 with BE 12R3.  Currently I am running the backup media server on a vm quest machine and

able to see only the tape drive but not the media changer.  After hours of troubleshooting, I noticed the path for the host bus

adapter is showing 2 paths, one of them is active which is the tape and the other one I assume is the media changer displaying a status

DEAD.  Any idea how to activate the media changer, again I am able to see the tape drive but not the media changer within device manager.

Any help on this is greatly appreciated.

search around for fiber attached library...I am pretty sure the ultimate response was "It is not supported to have fiber attached libraries with ESX"

Thx for the reply,  I found a few articles that a few got it to work.  the unit we purchased connects through a SAS interface.

If you have a dedicated SAS card, you can simple use VMDirectPath to pass the card to the backup VM.

Yes I do,  the Card is dedicated to the tape unit.  Do you have a link explaining on how to configure VMDirectPaht  .  Thanks
