How to Encreasing Host storage from an ESXi 4.0.0

Hi Guys,

i have a big problem!!!

Hard & VMware

Hardware :

HP Pro Liant DL 380 G5

Raid 6

Raidcontroller P400 Smart array

6 SAS 300 GB 10 K HDD

Total Storage space 1,2 TB

Vmware :

ESXi 4.0.0 , 171294

local data storage : Datastore 541,75 GB

What i need now is to increase to Datastorae without deleting or reinstall the whole Vmware. It have to be possible to increase or attache the total storage to the vmware otherwise this Esxi 4 is unusefull.

i attach some screenshots maybe it will help to understand it.

i read several of the same problems here but no usefull solution to increasing the storage without reinstallation. Hope someone can help me because i cannot backup with my backuptools only withe the datastorebrowser and this would take several days.

If you need other information please ask me, for a easy solution i am also ready to donate cash Smiley Wink

regards

I solved the problem for myself. For anyone who get the same problem make this steps like me. If you have this version : ESXi 4.0.0 , 171294

FIRST OF ALL PLEASE MAKE A BACKUP OF THE FILES WITH THE DATABROWSER.

NO MATTER HOW LONG IT WILL TAKE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

1. Install Vsphere Host update utility

2. Update(all firmwares and patches) the Host with who needs more dataspace

3. Connect with VSphere and set the VMware Host in the maintenance mode

4. Referesh the diskusage im the Host configuration

5.Hardware > Storage > Datastorage > ADD Storage

6.HDD/LUN

7.Choose storage to add > next > finish

8.Restart the VM Server

9.Assign the Storage to the VM(Virtual machines) and have fun that your VM is starting without a errormessage.

Hope that will help someone to not reinstall or update the VMware server to another version.

Now i can enjoy my weekend Smiley Wink
