How much VM can create in one ESXi 5.0 Host

Hi Community,

Server having HP ProLiant BL460c Server Blade  for Installing ESXi 5.0

Intel® Xeon® 5400 Series processors with single Proceesor having Cores 4   Threads 4

Memory having PC2-5300 Fully Buffered DIMMs at 667 MHz 4x4 = 8 GB

Network Controller Two (2) embedded NC373i Multifunction Gigabit Server Adapters with iSCSI boot

Fibre Channel Support QLogic QMH2462 4Gb FC HBA for HP c-Class BladeSystem

Need to Install Windows Server 2008 R2 Enterprise System in Single ESXi5.0 Host

Windows Server 2008 R2 Enterprise System Minimum Recommendation

Processor Recommended: 2 GHz or faster

Memory Recommended: 2 GB RAM or greater

Available Disk Space Recommended: 40 GB or greater

How Much VM with Guest Operating System(Windows Server 2008 R2 Enterprise) can be created in Host as per above Config of Single Host.

Note: Above all Hardware and OS is Supported as per Vmware Hardware Compatibility Guide

There is no definate number on how many you can create. It will all depend on your requirements and the load the VM's will be under.

But taking for example 100% resource usage for each VM - (using the minimum configuration)

VM - 1vCPU, 2GB RAM 40GB disk

Host - 4 cores, 8GB RAM, (disk you did not mention how much you had available..)

Will fit in 4 - but this leaves no room for the Hypervisor resources themselves
