Hi,
I upgraded my ESX 3.5 to ESX4.
Cause LUN on iscsi storage i installed new esxconsole on local storage.
Is possible to move this esxconsole and how?
Thanks
why would you want to move it? and if you would, I would suggest reinstalling... it's less risky.

Interesting question.
On Installation Guide (https://www.vmware.com/pdf/vsphere4/r40/vsp_40_esx_vc_installation_guide.pdf) there is this note:
In ESX 4.0, the service console's partitions are stored in a .vmdk file. These partitions include /, swap, /var/
log, and all the optional partitions. The name of this file is esxconsole-<system-uuid>/esxconsole.vmdk.
No info on how to move this file.
And in grub there is no reference on how to point to the vmdk.
In scripted installation there are some option to specify the place.

Under /etc/vmware/esx.conf there is this option:
/boot/cosvmdk =
Maybe could be sufficient to change this option and use esxcfg-boot to reconfigure the boot loader.

Storage Iscsi with Datacore
During Upgrade process with HostUpdate Utility, i can't see my datastore to create esxconsole so i had temporaly a hard disk on my first ESX but now (LOL) i can't move esxconsole on datastore to use the disk for the second ESX.
I know the best way is to have a higher disk or use another but it s a good open question : " how to move this .vdmk"

The console vmdk must be in a local drive or in a SAN "private" drive.
Have a look at the manual, but you cannot (you must not) share this file.
