How do you automatically start guests when the vSphere host boots? I have done this in vmware server and vmware workstation before easily but I cannot work out how to do it for vSphere. I do not have vCenter.
Just use vSphere Client and point to Host, Configuration, Software, Virtual Machine Startup/Shutdown .

Host properties / Configuration / Startup & Shutdown.

Thanks. Can you tell me what the 120 second delays are for? Is it safe to reduce these to a much lower number?
You can reduce.
Or better use the flag continue when VMware Tools are ready.
Is just a way to start not much VM all togehter.

This is the delay before the host starts the next vm, you can decrease this time if your host is powerfull enough and you have no dependencies between your VMs, like a DC have to be up and running before Exchange can start
