How do i install an guest os (windows 7 and windows server 2008 r2 in particular) via physical cd rom and how do i use usb flash drives on them once they are set up???

Hi,

You can add USB controller to your machine and attach your USB storage to the server then add USB storage to your machine as USB Device.

About CD/ROM, you can change your machine settings on this regard:

Change CD-ROM setting to PassTrought IDE , put your disk on the drive and your machine will see the disk.

ok my cd rom is set to passthrough ide. i put my cd in the client computer which i used to access the web client but it says on the web client "not connected" and when i power on the vm it says there's no os.

I have an iso of my operating system. i'm thinking i will use those instead of a physical disc. how do i install a guest os using an iso?? where do i put the iso so it can be accessed for installing?

I usually copy the ISO image(s) to a folder on the host's datastore, and attach the ISO image to the VM.
