How do i change IP address for the host inside V sphere?

Hi,

I have a noob question as i am new to VMware.

OK i was given 2 Vm server, which is the host right?

So i login to Vsphere and i saw 2 server which i can power on and off, so i was told to change the IP address upon login so that i could do a RDT or VNS to it. But i can find the tab or rather not knowning how to change the IP for those two host in Vsphere.

Could you guys give me some advise please.

Hi,

  1. Select your Host

  2. In Configuration Tab select Networking

  3. Click on Properties of your switch

  4. In the Ports tab select Management Network and click Modify

  5. Now you can modify your management IP

If your rights are limited, there isn't much you can do.  Even if you had the password for the ESX host and changed it there, you'd still need rights in vSphere to reconnect the host when it disconnect because of the address changing.

No, any machines listed under the virtual machines tab are the vsphere hosts virtual machines themselves.
